Living Will

A Living Will is a document where you can state your wishes regarding life-sustaining treatment in the event that you either have a terminal illness and are expected to die within a relatively short time or are permanently unconscious.
A Living will is only effective when you are no longer able to make and communicate your own wishes.

Health Care Power of Attorney

In a Health Care Power of Attorney you may designate a person (an "Agent") who will have the authority to make health care decisions on your behalf if you are unconscious, incompetent, or otherwise unable to make such decisions.

Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a document under which you as the "Principal" authorize another person or entity (an "Attorney-in-Fact" or Agent) to act on your behalf. You sign a Power of Attorney document so that your Agent will be able to handle your affairs during a period of time when your are unavailable or unable to do so. An Agent is not required to be a lawyer.
